Wellbeing Day: Connection, Creativity and New Experiences

Urban College students recently stepped away from their usual classroom routine for a special Wellbeing Day, with activities focused on connection, creativity, movement and positive wellbeing.

The day gave students the opportunity to try something different, spend time together and explore a range of activities designed to support both individual wellbeing and connection with others.

Mindfulness and Wellbeing

Better Brains joined us to facilitate a range of engaging mindfulness activities. Students had opportunities to slow down, reset and explore practical strategies they can use to support their wellbeing in everyday life.

Dance and Karaoke

There was plenty of energy in the guided dancing and karaoke room, where students could get involved, have fun and share some impressive performances with their peers.

Sound Bowls

For those looking for a quieter experience, the guided sound bowl session provided an opportunity to switch off and relax while experiencing the calming sounds and vibrations of sound bowls.

Music Room

Students were encouraged to pick up a new instrument and learn some of the basics together. The guided sessions provided a fun and supportive environment for students to experiment with music and develop new skills.

Gaming Room

The gaming room offered another way for students to connect, compete and enjoy some downtime together in a relaxed social environment.

Around the World Through Food

Food also played an important part in the day. Each Year 10 class selected a country, explored its cuisine and worked together to prepare and share their creations.

The activity combined teamwork and practical skills with an opportunity to learn more about different cultures through food.

Supporting Wellbeing and Connection

It was fantastic to see students getting involved throughout the day, whether they were trying something completely new, getting creative, being active or simply spending time connecting with others.

Days like this provide valuable opportunities for students to strengthen relationships, discover new interests and develop strategies that can support their wellbeing both at school and beyond.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make our Urban College Wellbeing Day such a memorable experience.
